Democrat and Chronicle Sunday 1A Redesign

Over the spring and summer of 2010, a few of the designers at the Democrat and Chronicle worked on refreshing not only the presentation of Sunday 1A but also how we approached Sunday 1A. For most of my time at the paper, Sunday 1A kind of just came together as the week went along. Each element really had no relation to the other elements on the page. And come Saturday night, a few pieces were pulled together when we got the chance. This redesign allowed the newspaper to turn Sunday 1A into a cohesive, well-planned cover.

Sunday 1A (Post-redesign)

After we launched this redesign, I was promoted to Sunday editor and tasked with continuing to move our Sunday product forward.

*I didn't design pages with asterisks. They're show here for comparison.
